You ever just look out the window and see a raccoon hanging from your birdfeeder in the middle of the afternoon? Me neither, until now.

I've seen this raccoon before at the back of the yard, but never right next to the house in the middle of the day.

A quick Google search showed that a female with babies will sometimes forage during the day to keep up with feeding them, so I'm guessing this is a female.

More pictures in the full article!

From the pictures I can't really verify whether this is a male or female.

Even though she or he was “letting it all hang out”, there was just too much adorable fluff to see what was going on.

Of course the dog really, really wanted to go out there and get the raccoon, but I really, really didn't want him to.

We will have to be very careful that we don't accidentally let him out when she is inside the fence.

It does my heart good to see wildlife up close.

This next picture I literally took through my office window.

I usually just see the usual squirrels and birds from here, so this was a treat.

We've had a prety wide assortment of critters in the back yard in spite of our fence.

The one that creeps the dog out the most is a Florida Soft Shelled Turtle that passes through a couple times a year.

It is probably moving from pond to pond seeking a mate.

So far we haven't seen an alligator inside our fence. We are quite a ways from the closest ponds, but I did see a video posted of a fairly large alligator crossing the street close enough to our house that I could see my car in the video. That was fun.

My favorite part of living in Florida is the wildlife.

We had wildlife when we lived in the Atlanta area, but it wasn't as wild.

I have seen bears in our neighborhood, but not in our yard. We did have one raid our garbage shortely after we moved in.

As much as I love the raccoon, I am glad the dog keeps it on its toes and discourages it from moving into our attic. We had to evict the squirrels, and I don't need raccoons taking up residence.

I do love seeing them outside the house.
